If enough people currently supporting Clinton have moments like these (and there are indications that this is happening) I'm sure it would help undo some of the damage Clinton inflicted on this party.

Very nice diary. I'm hoping Hillary and Bill come to their senses and start helping Obama defeat McCain. Maybe they can regain some respect with campaign support in the general. We shall see...

In case, like so many alcoholics and substance abusers, you need a date for your conversion.
I knew in his response, that he was playing with Clinton and McThuselah like a cat with string.
He gave the people honesty; she derided and denied that honesty. The hypocrisy was right there; she was dong exactly the thing that Obama had said was done for thirty years, in making the rural PA voters bitter, clinging to God & guns. She pandered to them, and told them that they were chipper, and spry, and nobody was going to knock them out. "The sky will open, the light will come down, celestial choirs will be singing...and the world will be perfect."
She mocks her own words.

it is the way it goes on that makes it bad.
We do need time for Clinton supporters to find their own way to Obama. If they are forced to choose Obama or McCain or Stay home, it could be bad. If they come to Obama on their own, it will be very powerful.

You said:
In fact, I have already switched the day Clinton called Obama an elitist. That day, watching CNN and seeing Obama caught in between McCain and Hillary (whom I supported staunchly since the beginning of this election), I suddenly had my own Obama moment, and right there and then, I understood.
So were you supporting Clinton "staunchly" when you wrote about The Wisdom of Obama at the end of March? You said "Obama epitomizes the ever elusive words that attempt to describe what America is for me."
It seems to me that the elitist comments came out in April.
Perhaps you are sleep deprived
by C Dawgg on Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 07:55:22 PM PDT
I was a staunch supporter in regard to vote for HRC. But at the same time I saw what Obama meant for many people, esp. for African Americans. I felt I should support Obama, but I didn't. Then eventually I had my breakthrough. Thanks for noticing.

comment to decide to vote for Obama?
You said at the end of your earlier diary...
Obama is a promise not only for America and Americans, but also a promise of the world. A promise what we can be, and what our future can be, if we want it.
So I guess you didn't want it then, but did after the elitist comment.
It is attention seekers like you that turn me off to this place.

by sideofzen on Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 08:57:54 PM PDT
I mean, I know you are relatively new here, but there is no evidence to support that the diarist is not sincere. I know quite a few people who favor HRC but also see real promise in Obama. DailyKos is not FreeRepublic or RedState, where one is required to present one's bona fides and demonstrate absolute loyalty to the party position and never express an opinion.
In fact, we are Democrats here. Democrats are generally better at allowing for people's opinions evolving over time. I'm not talking about principles, but there is nothing wrong in Democratic circles with considering all options carefully, making our choices, and moving forward. And if some new information comes up that one was previously unaware of that offends one's basic principles, it is fine to change an opinion.
I trust Barack Obama.
by Jennifer Clare on Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 09:05:42 PM PDT
It took me a while to study the two candidates- and I am really involved in this process. I saw Obama's promise and wanted to support him, but I was still on HRC's side. In the process, I learned a lot about myself. It was also a big me moment, to discover myself in Obama. It is hard to talk about such intimate experiences in such a public place, but I wanted to also give back some of the Hope at a time such as this, after the Penn primary. Hope is limitless, and as a well, it has no bottom.
by gigglinggirl on Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 09:14:30 PM PDT
I started out supporting Edwards, but I still really liked Obama, especially after hearing more of his speeches (and reading parts of his website).
I don't know who I would have ended up voting for had Edwards not dropped out before my state's primary came up. But once he did, there was no question of which way I'd go.
I started out seeing good things about all the candidates we had, including Hillary. It's sad to see where she's gone during this campaign.
But it's amazing to see where Obama is going, and where he's trying to take the rest of us with him.
Welcome aboard! :-)

I know how painful the process must have been for you. I admired Hillary for many, many years. Defended her and Bill all through the '90s and beyond. And while I saw the amazing potential in Obama early, for a very long time I felt that if he could not pull it off against her formidable machine, I could be happy enough with her as the nominee.
It has been no small sadness as her campaign has progressed in the way that it has, and I have looked on in horror. And sadness.
Be sweet to yourself, and enjoy yourself moving forward. Obama is a candidate worth supporting. I've seen him "up close and personal" both as a constituent and while working on several other campaigns, and he is who he says he is. I think that freaks people out sometimes.
Glad to have you in Obama's corner.
by Jennifer Clare on Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 08:41:43 PM PDT
he is who he says he is. I think that freaks people out sometimes.
Each of us sees this in others in relation to our experience. For many people, especially some who may express the most cynicism about Obama, experience has taught that such people do not exist, and if they do, they don't run for public office.
Many paths to reach the destination, but eventually we all arrive.
by MooseHB on Thu Apr 24, 2008 at 09:57:48 PM PDT
I get so tired of hearing the repeated refrain (one of Morning Joe's favorites, but lots of other people say it too), "What do we know about this guy? People aren't comfortable with him because they don't know anything about him."
I have never understood that. I have enough trust in my own instincts (which turned me off to Hillary LONG ago, BTW) to believe that I can learn a great deal about a person from listening to his words and how he says them, watching how he treats other people, and observing whether his choices and actions are consistent with his words. I know everything I need to know about Obama to be confident that he is the best leader I have ever had the privilege of voting for.
Your comment gives me some insight into those who are asking the question.

Welcome, I have to say that I am such a softie, I was touched by your post... I also am a woman and my feelings are also very important to me. I am so sorry that you felt "denigrated, humiliated, put down, and ridiculed" this has been a emotional campaign season. We all have spent eight years seeing our country in a free fall both nationally and internationally... I too (although I was not a supporter in the beginning) saw positive qualities in Sen. Clinton in the beginning of this political primary season. But today, any respect I had for her is long gone. Her character is on the surface for all to see, and as they say "it ain't pretty". Hopefully someday we will have a female president, but we cannot afford it this time around. Clinton has always said who would you hire look at the resume? Well when a firm looks at a new hire, yes they look at the resume but they also look at the whole person. Hillary Rodham Clinton has not proven herself to be a candidate with the temperament or integrity deserving of the presidency....and that is not gender bias it is common sense...YOU ARE SO WELCOME TO JOIN US...
