let's raise $5 mil over the next week.
Offset the loan.
I just chipped in $250 last night.
Oh, and one other thing...
if she's self-financing...
she's in deep doo-doo.

If everyone puts in another $50-100, Obama will be fine....

I can never give much at a time but I do it as often as I can. I have never been so happy to feel part of a campaign, however minor.

maybe GB can contribute time instead of money. Or talk up Obama with friends. Each according to his ability, you know.
by Heart of the Rockies on Wed Feb 06, 2008 at 01:36:46 PM PDT
Next headed down to Texas...but your right, each according to your own. It's just so hard not to join in the contribution avalanche.

I have been out of school for 7-8 years, paying off my loans in the private sector, and I can afford to give to the campaign (and I have been and will again with this latest drive). I work extremely hard, long hours, though, so I can't travel and volunteer the way you can, although I wish I could. It's so great to read about you and all the other Obama supporters who have given so much of their time to generating support! It makes my cash seem like nothing by comparison, but in reality, we all pitch in however we can.

Don't give what you can't afford. That would be like Obama self-financing on the backs of students. Use your student loan money for living expenses while in school.
One of the things i learned in a Campaign Corps (Emily's List) training was to treat volunteers like financial donors. They're both important. Obama's lucky (and inspiring). He has both. Be who you are now. You'll have money to donate later.

Drew out an extra $200 against my student loan.
Eh, I guess I'll have to pick up a few more shifts at the restaurant to pay rent... but it's worth it for our country's future, no??

It's a wonderful sentiment -- but trust me as someone that finally nearing the end of Sallie Mae servitude... Others can cover you.
If you have a good night waiting tables -- kick in a few bucks, but don't donate money you can't afford.
There are nearly a million of us donating to Obama online.... No one needs to go into debt for this campaign.
I guess everyone's got their own blog now.
by zonk on Wed Feb 06, 2008 at 01:39:32 PM PDT
If needed, I can give more in your place.....I'm an old fart, so I don't have student loans...
Maybe donate some time if you can....
by MKS on Wed Feb 06, 2008 at 02:52:05 PM PDT
Us grads who are nearly out from under the Sallie Mae thumb (I've got about 2 more years!) got your back.
I'll kick in another $10 to my next donation

more where that came from.
That's the advantage of having 700,000 donors who have given less than $200 each, on average.
Maybe there is more power in a grass roots movement.
Just type in your PIN, Barack, and withdraw another couple of $mill.

remember the brouhaha that was caused way back when Obama used that phrase at a rally? "okay, everybody pony up $5" or whatever he said.... then the usual suspects showed up here to express their outrage, lol.

And I can legally go much higher :-)
I'm still almost $2100 under the limit! I can't afford 4 figures - but I think I can probably do another 4-500 this cycle.
