This is exactly how I feel. I support the cause that John promotes and I have my entire life since my very first primary vote for Ted Kennedy. I believe passionately in my ideals and John Edwards give a voice to those ideals.
I too am a loyal Democrat and have voted in every single primary and general election for Democrats even in off years. I will vote for whomever is the nominee. But I will never abandon my candidate just because the media and the powers that be and the supporters of other candidates demand that I do. I didn't come by my choice lightly and I won't abandon him lightly.
Thank you for articulating what so many of us believe. I said in another diary that when Hillary lost in Iowa her supporters were desperate and they channeled that into working for their candidate. Now the Obama supporters are desperate and instead of full throttle working for him some are just demanding that I give Obama my vote based on their own voting criteria. I know who I am, I know what I want, and I don't back down--not ever. I always fight the good fight no matter the outcome. That way I can hold my head up high and know that I did everything I could.
Here's some simple advice: Always be yourself. Never take yourself too seriously. And beware of advice from experts, pigs, and members of Parliament. Kermit

I also supported Teddy Kennedy in 1980. Edwards is his heir to that fight.
Bobby and Teddy's dream shall never die. That dream is not only theirs; it is the dream of many, amy people, great and small who have fought of generations to make America a just nation.

Thank you sobermom for putting it so clearly.
And thanks to RDemocrat for giving us a great summary line:
We support John Edwards, because John Edwards supports us.
I'm a relative newcomer to the Edwards bandwagon as I was hoping until recently that Al Gore would get in the race. (I still do, but...) When I started checking out the current batch of candidates, Edwards was the one whose message resonated.
He gets it. He cares. And by the gods, he's got the guts and the skill and the determination to DO something about it.
Those who say it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it.
