you might think they actually care.
Great diary. Thanks for reiterating just why I support John Edwards and why I tune out all the advice.

You have done the same for me on many occasions.

Plus, I actually have the audacity of hope to think he's actually going to pull this off.

advocates for the average American. That's why he does not $100 million. We should rejoice that we have one candidate who will tell the truth about the system and shows a way out.

Edwards embodies and advocates the same ideals and belief system that I have. Which is why he'll never win.
You can call it the Establishment, as good a term as any, or whatever. Those people will never allow a candidate like Edwards to fully succeed. Even if he gets in, both sides of the aisle in both houses will ignore him to the best of their ability. Same thing pretty much happened with JFK. His agenda got rammed through by LBJ after the assassination.
I'm a MA McGovern Democrat. Actually, I'm "Unenrolled" as they call us independents here in MA. Unenrolled because both parties disgust me. But I believe exactly what Edwards stated in his Four Truths. That was the speech that sold me.
I only have one vote. I can't change anything. But I can make one statement on Feb 5 and that will be that John Edwards has my vote. If he gets enough he gets a huge say in the 2008 platform.

California primaries arrives so that I may have the opportunity to cast my vote for Edwards. The only other time that I felt this sense of conviction about voting for a candidate was when I voted for Bobby Kennedy during the California primary in 1968. Had it not been for his political assasination he, most probably, would have gone on to be president instead of "Tricky" Dick Nixon.
Edwards has that same compassion and dedication for the poor, the homeless, those unable to afford needed medical care, the victims of an illegal war and the victims of a scewed economical system that favors only the top 0.5% of the population.

I can do the same here in KY!!

I am also proud that my youngest child who turned 18 just registered as a DEMOCRAT! Yes folks I did something right. I never pushed any of my children one way or the other all I did was my best to be sure they got the Truth about all the issues and 2 are die-hard DEMS now, one is on the fence but leaning Dem. Can't wait to vote for Edwards on 2-5 many folks here in Arkansas really like him as they did in '04 but sadly they didn't like Kerry.

Voting by mail began this week in California. You have until a week before the election to apply to vote by mail. More info here.
Go Edwards!
by dsb on Wed Jan 09, 2008 at 02:35:17 PM PDT
My wife and I sent out our applications to vote by mail yesterday. I believe that voting by mail is allowed in all other states. I hope that many others will take advantage of this and, while at it, that they will cast their votes for Edwards.
GO EDWARDS !!!!
by calibpatriot on Wed Jan 09, 2008 at 04:05:31 PM PDT
I got my absentee ballot yesterday. I haven't read the whole thing yet, but I did make one mark immediately -- Edwards! I'm still hanging on for him for all of the reasons stated above. He cares about us -- middle class America. He'll fight as hard for us as he did for his clients when was practicing law and going after the big corporations (product liability class actions.)

They don't understand us, because many of them would have quit their own candidates months ago.
As John Edwards says, "this is not about me, it is about our cause."

We're about fundamentally challenging the economic order of things. Not some media fantasy. A real challenge.
When I finally got in involved in 08 a few months ago I figured before Feb 5 obamaites or edwardsians would have to jump ship, but this campaign is about so much more than beating hillary clinton.
Also, TomP, I'd like to ask for your help if possible -- I've put together this video (embedded below) which I think really has appeal for young people. Everyone who watches it seems to really like it, and I think it puts the Edwards campaign in perspective.
If you can help get it out there -- e-mail, embedding, whatever -- please do it.

Thanks for your work in putting this together -- it really captures the heart of why we feel we can't give up!!! Like Edwards says, it isn't about him, it's about the message, it's about us!!

It's moving and distills John's message to its core. Very powerful. You've made him what he is...one of us.
I can't tell you how excited I am by this ad. I've been less than moved by some of the ads of the last months.

agree it's got great power and punch. (LOVE the music!)
Please, God, don't let the Democratic party make me vote for some pinhead who believes in the GWOT. God grinned...
