I was just in the process of adding a link to your diary to mine, but my computer is a bit constipated this morning, so it was taking me too much time.
Thanks for reminding everyone about "socialist" healthcare.

worry about being bankrupted by a medical condition: our Political Class. They have wonderful healthcare, subsidized by the American Taxpayers peasants, and a guarantee that their claims will be paid by insurance companies eager to buy them off.
The American Aristocrats are different from you and me. They have actual health insurance.

really glad you did not have to deal with the horrors of an insurance company saying NO we are not paying for that I had that happen to me for one of my kids, she needed an eye operation or she would have lost her eye the HMO said no put a patch on it the eye surgeon said either I operate on it or she loses her vision I paid the hospital fee by borrowing against my house and put her in the hospital the insurance company called the hospital after I admitted her and agreed to pay the bill the finance office returned my deposit that morning the insurance company knew they were going to be sued health care should not be this way

got it in the diary.
What indeed does Jerome think?
I'm sure I can answer for him.
Jerome is very grateful he is a citizen of France, a country where healthcare is a right not a privilege. And a country where you don't sell your house to pay for healthcare for a sick child.

What about people who don't own a house?
Plenty of renters have children who get catastrophically sick, and there are no resources at all for them to tap. They aren't "poor enough" to qualify for assistance, but they still have no way to pay, no assets to mortgage or sell.
Imagine how sickening THAT feels.

Since, obviously, the people who don't have insurance are just being really lazy.

...many 'homeowners' are that in name only, especially in today's economy, they might actually be upside-down in their house, owning no equity at all.
If I sold my house, I'd probably come out ahead, but I consider myself lucky. And I certainly wouldn't get hundreds of thousands of dollars out of it.
There are people who can't even sell their houses because they can't afford the fees necessary to sell a house these days.
I'm still an Edwards supporter, and a Patriots fan. Not having the best year here...

but this puts it all in perspective for me:
I never want to come home to the states!!! And I have no clue why everyone else is either still there or hasn't protested night and day until things get changed.
I certainly hope that It's like we are all too scared or are procrastinating the inevitable moment when someone gets sick and then we are totally screwed? It's like we are already the walking dead!
And the irony of it all is that I walked right by the place that does passport photos that I need in order to get my permanent residency stamp in Sweden.
II wonder if that might save my life. Not to mention the fact that earning in euros are now 40% stronger/have more value than the dollar.
Maybe Jerome and I should run an underground American relocation program.
